Carters Lake for Fishing

Visit Carters Lake, only a couple of miles from our cottage.  It is one of the best BIG fish lakes in Georgia - the only lake in Georgia that you have a real chance at catching a 30 pound striper, 15 pound Hybrid and a six lb spotted bass in the same day along with the occasional Walleye!

Lots of local hiking on nearby trails, hikes and waterfalls including local Appalachian Trailhead access.

A stay in Ellijay is an opportunity for fishing,  kayaking and canoeing in the nearby Cartecay, Coosawattee and Ellijay Rivers. Come explore!

Kids and adults alike will enjoy  tubing or kayaking down the river for a fun day on the water.  The beautiful waters of the Cartecay River run through the mountains in and around the city of Ellijay, merging with the Ellijay River to form Coosawattee. 

The Georgia Apple Festival is an annual festival in Ellijay, Georgia. Held every October, enjoy handmade crafts, live music, antique car show and parade and of course,  APPLES! The whole family will enjoy U-Pick apple orchards. Check out The Red Apple Barn, BJ Reese Orchards or R&A Orchards.

 Make memories visiting farms and vineyards including Cartecay Vineyards, Reece Orchards, Engleheim Vinyards are in Ellijay as well as Roo Mountain Vineyards which offers spectacular views.  Don't miss the Ellijay Mushroom Farm & Store.  Explore North Georgia's diverse agrotourism.
